Boca Juniors drew 1-1 against Guadalajara’s Tecos in México in its first friendly within an intense pre-season.
Boca’s goal was scored by junior midfielder Cristian Chávez at 19 minutes into the second half with a very potent medium distance rightfooter.
The play exhibited was imprecise and evidenced the players’ lack of pace after two weeks of physical training in U.S.A.’s Washington.
Our team displayed good intentions, as it always does: grabbing the initiative, getting near the rival’s goal by means of team play and searching for alternatives.
At 11’ Caranta, stopped a shot fired by Sandoval, face to face with the rival player.
At 25’ Palermo connected a cross from the right with a header but Corona responded with ease.
In the second half Ischia’s team took hold of the ball right from kickoff and created the clearest scoring opportunities. But it lacked precision in the last few meters.
At 19’ Castromán, coming down along the side line of the field, in Palacio-style, broke through on the right and sent a far cross, Palermo deflected the ball into the middle of the rival area with a header, and on-rushing Chávez gave Boca the minimum edge with a potent rightfooter.
Later again Martín Palermo missed the 2-0 edge with another header. Near the end of the game Tecos attained the deserved draw with a forehead header netted by Bareiro.
Next Saturday Boca will close its mini-tour through Mexico by playing against Dorados at 10.30 pm.
