He came up from the lower divisions, has played 241 games, scored 17 goals, and celebrated the conquest of 14 titles. Battaglia has a fantastic career behind him which includes a stint at Spain's Villarreal. Ten years have passed since he did his first pre-season and he remembers that moment with glee.
"Everything was new for me. Boca, a pre-season in the first division, to be playing next to guys like Bermúdez, Chicho Serna, Cagna. It was special because it was the first one and from then on many titles came our way" the midfielder reminisces, who at the time was only 17 years old.
"Our keenness to win matches and to conquer titles continues intact. We are keener than 10 years ago" he states in an article of the sportsnewspaper Olé, together with Hugo Ibarra and Martín Palermo.
This pre-season, like the first one, is filled with the anxiety to conquer new trophies. "We all start on each cycle full of motivation and the greatest confidence to continue to win. This is what is expected and demanded of us by the club, the fans, and by ourselves, because this is what we are accustomed to".
As keen as ever and with always the same talent, all that is necesary is to await the good results.
